Business Roundtable endorses raising retirement age Full retirement at age 70? That's the plan put forward Wednesday by Business Roundtable, which wants to raise the retirement age for Social Security and Medicare as well as partially privatize the latter. According to the Associated Press, the business group's plan would not affect Americans 55 or older but would impact younger workers. It calls for smaller annual benefit increases for Social Security recipients and would allow Medicare recipients the choice of enrolling in private programs.
